We think if we look at our selves long enough we will understand ourselves but the truth is we need an orientation point outside ourselves to get a perspective of who we are.
You can tell your self that you are really smart all day long and it will not mean a lot. It is only when someone outside of you that is infinitely smarter than you tells you that you are smart that it means something.
In the same way the Scripture teaches us that we will never get perspective of our life until you see our self as God sees us.
